Baker athletics in full effect this weekend
This was a busy weekend when it came to BU athletics. Men’s and women’s soccer teams traveled on Friday to Rockhurst University in Kansas City.
The women ran through the team, beating them 3-0, meanwhile the men fell victim to unfortunate officiating and poor calls. While there was scrappy play on both sides, Rockhurst played a classless game.
Then Saturday morning was the Maple Leaf Invitational held in Baldwin City. Junior, Chris Scheideman, led the way for men in the 5k run posting a 16:30:93 time, finishing 12th overall. Freshman, Lauren Jaqua, led the way for women in the 4k run posting a 15:35.80 time, finishing in 7th overall.
“I think this was a pretty good start to the season for us.”
Meanwhile, volleyball traveled to Nebraska over the weekend and posted a 2-2 record in the Bellevue Classic. Baker fans also came out to the football game vs. Missouri Valley on Saturday night at Liston Stadium in Baldwin City. The Wildcats fell to Missouri Valley 17-10, after making a late, 4th quarter surge, almost staging a heroic comeback. The weekend concluded on Labor Day with a women’s soccer 4-3 win over Hastings College, and a 1-0 loss on the men’s side. Nonetheless, Baker athletics will be back in full effect next weekend. Go BU!
